Chinesca in Mexicali is a unique neighborhood with the largest concentration of Chinese population in Mexico, originating in the 20th century by immigrants attracted by the construction of the railroad and agriculture. This cultural enclave has fused Chinese and Mexican traditions, offering a rich diversity of cuisine, art, and festivities, and has become an important symbol of the city’s multicultural heritage.

Why is Chinese food famous in Mexicali? The fusion between Chinese culture and the local culture of Mexicali has resulted in a distinctive style of Chinese food characteristic of this region. It has been adapted to Mexican tastes to provide dishes with unique flavors, blending traditional ingredients from both nationalities.

Cine Curto is a historic building that began as a cinema in 1946, hosting celebrities such as Pedro Infante and Liz Aguilar. Over time, it transformed into a performance center and, after a restoration, is now an artisanal gastronomic market. This market houses 26 spaces dedicated to local producers, wines, craft breweries, and typical regional food. It also offers a Cinema Club, workshops, music events for dancing, and karaoke days.

A train trip brings you closer to the identity and history of the railroad in Mexicali. To provide visitors with a similar experience, two wagons designed as train engines were created, offering guided tours through some of the city’s most iconic points. Note: Subject to availability.
